Well due to popular demand, I have decided that I will grace the many (like 5) fans of our blog, with a new blog post. I know, I know, I am so gracious to let you all bask in my warm words, and to be filled with the knowledge of the many happenings that have happened since I last wrote back in Tel Aviv.
In a nutshell since, Tel Aviv, Vaughn has gotten bigger, I graduated, Angelica dropped the number of hours that she is working, and I now work at Centro Hispano again. There you happy?....What? Its a post...that is what you asked for isn't it? Ok so you want some more huh, well then, I suppose I can be persuaded to write a little more.
To update you guys more about the ever amazing and exciting events of our lives, I can let you know that Angelica is pregnant again! Ok, not really, I just threw that out for shock factor. Like I would really announce that over a blog post, and not through calling everyone. In all seriousness though, Vaughn is 8 months as of a couple of days ago. He is doing really well eating solids. Basically anything that we eat, he wants to eat, so it has made eating a little bit more tricky. We basically take shifts snacking in the kitchen around the corner from Vaughn's view so that we can eat a cookie, or something like that, since every time something goes in our mouth, Vaughn wants a bite, or at least something to eat as well. The same goes for anytime a cup gets pressed to our mouth, he begins to cry until he gets some too, then he squeals with excitement and delight. Vaughn still doesn't crawl, or walk, but he does scoot on his butt small distances, and he really likes walking around with our support under his arm pits, the distances progressively get longer. In additional news about Vaughn, he now says "Mama" and "Dada," so that's fun. Also Vaughn had his third haircut Sunday Morning to celebrate his 8th month on this planet. That's a pretty good summary of things with Vaughn.
In new news about Angelica since Tel Aviv, she has cut down on her hours so that she can be at home more with Vaughn, which is something that she has really enjoyed. She is still working at Centro Hispano, and continues with her projects of helping with HIV Testing and Education, as well as working to decrease the use of Tobacco among Hispanics/Latinos throughout Utah. Last month Angelica turned the big 30! In honor of her major accomplishment, I decided to throw her a surprise birthday party. According a good source, Mel, I am the first to be able to accomplish such an amazing feat as deceiving Angelica long enough, and well enough to throw a surprise party for her. Let me fill you all in on the secret, its called procrastinating, and constantly forgetting about the upcoming event, until about a week before, and leading her to believe that due to a number of conflicting schedules, we won't be able to do anything for her birthday. In other words, if you can forget about it until the last minute and then scramble to get it pulled together, using the only small gaps you have available away from her, to make quick errands, order cakes, buy pinatas, and consult with her friends, then it is very much possible. I think that was Mel's problems all these many years, is that she always got to excited about throwing a party, and as a result of her excitement gave away the secret of the party. Anywho (Yeah that's right I said Anywho, and not Anyways...It's not a typo), the party was loads of fun. It was as traditional a Mexican party as it could be. We had two large Piñatas, lots of carne asada, beans, tortillas, rice, tres leches cake, mexican candies, and lots of family and friends. The only thing missing was the loteria game, some dancing, and mariachi singers. Among the highlights of the party, was Angelica's breaking of the bat while trying to hit her piñata. Seems like Angelica is going on a breaking streak these last couple of months, because among other things that typically are not broken while striking hard surfaces, Angelica seemed to manage breaking my Nalgene Bottle from our honey moon in Yosemite. So, I guess the morale of the story is, don't let Angelica handle nearly indestructible things, because she will manage to break them. It's like she's a universal Kryptonite to all of these indestructible items.
Finally, we come to the best part of this whole post, the part where I tell you all about what has been happening with me. I know, I know, you all only read this blog, because you are interested in my life. With that being said, in April I graduated from BYU with my B.A. in Arabic. That was really exciting. As part of my final semester at BYU, I worked on a great paper talking about Homosexuality in Iraq, and the causes of violence in the region. I think you would all be surprised to learn what I learned, but I'm not gonna tell you. Other than graduation, the next big event in my life was having the pleasure of passing my first Kidney Stone, only about 2 weeks after starting my new job at Centro Hispano, and about a month after quitting the worst job ever, working as a Telemarketer for all of one week. Let's just say, had I not quit, well then the Kidney Stone would never had happened, because I would have died from boredom first while working at that job. Imagine 9 hours a day sitting at a phone waiting for someone to pickup. There is no fun wait music, just the constant, ring, ring, ring, ring, ring, ring, ring....for hours and just sitting there waiting, waiting, waiting, hoping that the next leap could be the leap to finally take you home, back to your time....Wait that was Quantum leap. That was basically the idea of the job though. Thankfully, I now work at a job that I enjoy, and that keeps me busy, with fun tasks. I am the Community Outreach Educator for the Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic. This means that I get to do all the advertising, marketing, teaching and contacting of people for the clinic, to try and increase clientele, as well as to educate the community on relevant tax issues. Its really fun. I guess I should mention that I am studying to take the LSAT in October, so we will see what happens.
Things around here have been pretty busy, since arriving home from Tel Aviv. I don't promise anything, but I can at least guarantee that I will try to do better to update this blog more frequently. Look forward to talking to you all in another 7-8 months!
